Going Back

Today was a day that I was not looking forward for one specific reason. On the other hand, I was looking forward to it for the new that would be revealed. Kathie and I had received an invitation to attend a press conference at BC Children's Hospital for an announcement by the Provincial Government and the Michael Cuccione Foundation. I was a little apprehensive about going back to the hospital. I had only been there once since Hannah passed away and that was last summer for a memorial service for all kids that had passed away in the previous year. So it was a little strange to go back there. I took a moment to wander past the Oncology clinic on the first floor. I didn't have the nerve to go in and see if there was anyone I knew still working there. It was enough to go inside the building and walk past the clinic. It brought back some memories that didn't need to be disturbed just on this day.

The press conference was to be in a different building then then hospital. it was in a research building on the site. The announcement turned out to be great news. The Provincial Government is giving $2 million to be used to complete the Michael Cuccione Laboratory for Pediatric Oncology at BC Children's Hospital. This is great news for the fight against cancer. And in particular, a great step forward to research in BC. This bodes well for own efforts as we get our Foundation started and look for what we can do to help the fight.

In other news Kathie is doing well and recovery nicely. She's feeling good and eager to enjoy the summer. Allie is in gymnastics and having fun doing that. We're going to sign her up for swimming so that she'll be comfortable around the water. And me, well I'm doing OK. I'm be jetting off to Toronto in June for a few days for work. Otherwise, things are status quo.

It's a long weekend coming up, at least in Canada, so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lots of Love

Tore, Kathie, Allie and Beautiful Angel Hannah
