Way overdue...

Hey there,

Yeah, I know it's been a long time since the last update and for that I feel badly. There hasn't been a lot of stuff going on the last month but there are a few things I can pass along.

Kathie has been doing well since starting her Chemo treatments a few weeks ago. She hasn't really had any problems with the medication she's on except for some sleeplessness and general fatigue. She's started on the Herceptin treatment as well and that's going good. On the current schedule, she'll finish up in time for the later part of September.

I've been thinking alot about Hannah lately. She's been in my/our thoughts more the normal lately. Last Saturday night our local community had a fresh air movie night. A big screen was put up in the park and everyone was invited to come and watch the Disney/Pixar movie "Cars". The last time Kathie and I watched Cars, was while we were in Houston getting treatment for Hannah. She really enjoyed the movie that time and it was a little sad when it started because we both thought of Hannah at just about the same time. Allie really enjoyed the night at the park with some friends. She ran around and played before the movie started but was was a little tired and cranky by the time it ended just before midnight. I think I might go out and pick up the DVD for Cars. It's one of those movies that will always have a special place in my heart because of some link to Hannah. Another of those is Winnie the Pooh's Heffalump Movie. That was her favorite movie and anytime Allie watches it (which hasn't been more then a couple times) I can see in my mind, Hannah watching and singing along.

Another reason for thinking more about her is the recent sale of my Honda Civic. I bought the car in 1994 and Hannah always called it "Daddy's Big Red Car". I sold it because it wasn't be used and had sat idle for almost a full year. So Kathie and I made an agreement to sell it off and with the money raised from that, buy ourselves a big screen LCD TV, Nintendo Wii and a High-Def Digital Video Recorcer. So we've picked up all of those in the last few weeks. Allie was sad to see the Big Red Car go because she had never had a chance to ride in it. Hannah had only one ride in it but that was a fun Daddy-Daughter day.

Also, we've been doing a lot of work in the back yard the last couple of weeks. Our neighbors, Nicole and Jason are helping us get out yard in order while they do some work in theirs. Gone is the huge hedge that was between our yards, to be replaced by a new fence. We're taking down the old garage and putting up a new garden shed and will be putting down some sod and new beds after everything is done. There is also talk of getting a little playground put in by Cheryl and Brian.

On a couple of positive notes; the US Senate and Congress have passed the Childhood Cancer act and it's on it's way to the White House. That's going to put a lot more money into research which is a good thing. Also, this past weekend was the opening of Matthew's Boundless Playground at Give the Kids the World in Florida. Give the Kids a world is a place that works with various charities like Make a Wish to give kids and their families a wonderful vacation in Orlando where the kids can have time away from doctors, hospitals and tests. Matthew McGowan's family and many others were there to attend. We wish we could have been but were thinking of them all weekend.

We've got a couple weeks at home and then will be heading to Birkenhead Lake, about an hour north of Whistler for a long weekend with friends and then to Eucluelet (on Vancouver Island) the weekend after that. If I had time and opportunity, I would probably have travelled to San Diego for the Annual Comic-Con. For those that don't know, it's a convention dedicated to Comics, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, movies, book and much more. Maybe next year... If there are any readers in the San Diego area, go have a look!

Well, that's should cover it for today. Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Lots of Love
Tore, Kathie, Allie and Beautiful Angel Hannah
