September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Hi there,

A couple of things:

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Please do what you can to support a family that has a child with cancer. Send an encouraging card/letter/email; help out with a meal or gift card from a restaurant; offer to do some yard work, house-keeping or other chore that needs doing. It makes a world of difference to know those families to know that someone is willing to help out.

I've launched a new blog site, update.hannahsheroes.com. This new site will be used to post interesting news links relating to childhood cancer, updates on what the Foundation is up to and other related and interesting things. Our current blog is still going to be updated but is going to be used for more family related stuff but will still have stuff related to the foundation.

Unfortunately, we have decided to cancel our planned family vacation in October. Kathie's doctors were not comfortable with her travelling to Central America and Panama on a cruise. Her immune system will still be weak, and she is unable to have any kinds of immunization shots. This could lead to risk of getting hepatitis or other such disease. So we decided that it would be better to not risk anything and wait until another time. Instead we're looking at some vacations closer to home, or at least within Canada or the US. At least in Canada and the US we can be sure of the proper care and facilities.

That should cover things for now,
Tore, Kathie, Allie and Beautiful Angel Hannah
