A quick post

Hi there,

Just wanted to make this a quick one for tonight because it's getting late and I'm getting tired. Kathie was admitted to VGH on Friday due to an infection. She had been having a headache for a few days and on Thursday her right eye became swollen. She was check out at the clinic but sent home only be to be asked to come again the next day. By Friday morning her eye was swollen shut, her headache was quite bad and she had a fever.

They bounced us around to different places on Friday but she finally ended up at the ER for a few hours while a bed was found upstairs. They started anti-biotics and some painkillers and settled her down for the night. By Saturday morning her eye was less swollen but she was still sore and had a fever. Over the course of the day, the fever seemed to break and the eye because less swollen. Kathie is feeling pretty good outside of the pain behind her eye which has lessened a bit. We'll see what tomorrow holds but if the treatment so far continues to work, she should be doing much better. I'm speculating that she'll be able to return home on Monday.

So what we've learned from this is that a person with a compromised and weakened immune system, probably shouldn't help with shovelling the manure that was delivered for our backyard. The doctors think it might be possible that she was exposed to something in the manure that might have triggered the reaction she go. Well, we've learned that Kathie should stay away from the garden for the foreseeable future. At least until her system is stronger.

In other news, Kathie's sister Cheryl is on her way to Ottawa to be at the opening a cancer survivor's park. Cheryl and her partner in art, Mike, created a wonderful Sculpture called Shine that is going to be a permanent part of the park. Dorothy, Lisa and Denise will be going with Cheryl. Kathie was supposed to go but as she's in hospital, we'll have to send her to Ottawa for a look another time. It's very unfortunate because Kathie was very much looking forward to going and she's disappointed that she can't. However, we're all very proud of Cheryl. You can have a look at "Shine" and read a bit about at the website for Cheryl's company i.e. creative. There is information and picture on lots of their other work. Pay particular attention to the project they did at BC Children's Hospital.

That's about it for tonight.

Lots of Love

Tore, Kathie, Allie and Beautiful Angel Hannah
